چکیده
Abstract BACKGROUND Craniospinal irradiation (CSI) is indicated for adult patients diagnosed with leptomeningeal disease (LMD). Proton-based vertebral-body-sparing (VBS) CSI has been explored pediatric to minimize hematologic toxicity; however, utilization of VBS in an population limited. We hypothesize that VBS-CSI utilizing volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) will effectively reduce vertebral body dose while minimizing surrounding organs-at-risk (OAR) LMD. METHODS Ten LMD received CSI, 30 Gy 10 fractions. These were initially treated a variety VMAT and IMRT treatment techniques. then retrospectively replanned using VBS-CSI. For their replan, full arcs the brain fields matched two spine isocenters upper lower created limited posterior arcs. The PTV was margins 3mm uniformly around contour 7mm spinal canal. To further decrease dose, avoid entry exit created. This structure margin on anteriorly designed carve out bodies still maintaining coverage PTV. RESULTS All had reduction when compared initial plan. mean plans average 33% plans. small bowel esophagus reduced by 46% 67%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS may be utilized OARs bodies. In this study, led significant reductions also other OARs. acceptable alternative proton-based Prospective evaluation warranted.

Total body irradiation with volumetric modulated arc therapy: Dosimetric data and first clinical experience
BACKGROUND To implement total body irradiation (TBI) using volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT). We applied the Varian RapidArc™ software to calculate and optimize the dose distribution. Emphasis was placed on applying a homogenous dose to the PTV and on reducing the dose to the lungs. METHODS From July 2013 to July 2014 seven patients with leukaemia were planned and treated with a VMAT-ba...
متن کاملDosimetric Effect of Jaw Tracking in Volumetric-Modulated Arc Therapy
The aim of this study was to investigate the potential of jaw tracking with the volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) to reduce the normal tissue dose. Plans of nasopharynx, lung, and prostate cancers (10 plans for each) were used to perform VMAT with and without jaw tracking. The dose reduction was evaluated in terms of organ doses and integral doses. Organ-dose reduction with jaw tracking w...
متن کاملComparison of Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy and Three-Dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy in Postoperative High-Grade Glioma: A Dosimetric Comparison
Introduction: We aimed to dosimetrically compare three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT) and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) in terms of planning target volume (PTV) coverage, organ at risk (OAR) sparing, and conformity index (CI). Material and Methods: Planning data of 26 high grade glioma (HGG) patients were used. Prescrib...

INTRODUCTION The aim of this work is to verify the use of radiochromic film in the quality assurance (QA) of volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) lung stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) plans and compare the results with those obtained using an ion chamber array. MATERIALS AND METHODS QA was performed for 14 plans using a two-dimensional-array seven29 and EBT3 film. Dose values per...
